        FIFT was conceived in the creative mind of Mrs. Thara Ranjith, a costume designer from Mysore. She is also an artist interested in painting, embroidery, handicrafts and all such creative works.
        The first unit of FIFT; which is also the first one of its kind in North Malabar; started functioning at Kannur in the year 2000. With a motto to provide quality and

updated fashion education with theory practical classes, FIFT became the most popular and leading Fashion Designing Institute in Kannur.
        Fashion designing being an inevitable need of apparel industry not only calls for highly creative mind but also for effective and convincing communication skills which will help one to explain the designs and patters to the artisans and manufactures.
        Our training goal is that a student can choose to use his/her creativity in the garment industry or can capitalize the ability in his/her own entrepreneurship.
        Our wonderful and most fruitful syllabus is divided into two parts; An elaborate theory part which aims at Training the students to pursue careers such as Designers, Fashion Coordinators, illustrators, Costume Designers, Pattern Makers, Fashion Merchandisers etc.
        An effective Practical Syllabus which is designed to suit the need of today’s market trend and includes Pattern Making. Industrial Pattern making Traditional embroideries from different states of India viz; Kutch Work from Gujarath, Mirror Work from Rajasthan, Chikankari from Lucknow, Kasoothi from Karanataka etc.

Apart from these we also train students on English embroideries like Barjello, cut work, patch work, appliqué work, drawn thread work etc. which includes more than 100 different types of basic stitches, zardosi, painting and machine embroidery.
        To put it in a nut shell, we shape and inspire the creative mind of our students in such a way that after completion of the course they will be capable to work on their own.
        Student’s talent, capability, taste etc is assessed through written exams, practical assignments, seminar, project work, industrial visit and finally a diploma project. Our aim and motto is to transform the students to skilled professional so that they will become confident entrepreneurs in the society.
